Former captain Babar Azam said fans in Lahore had always supported the team.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the renovated Gaddafi Stadium, as Pakistan prepared to host the Champions Trophy, with the first ICC event being hosted by the country in 29 years.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, federal ministers and members of the assembly also attended the event.
Expressing his thoughts, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said that PM Shehbaz's decision to appoint Mohsin Naqvi as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief had proved right.
He said, "I have played frequently at the Gaddafi Stadium. Cricket has been called as the game of by-chance. We should boost the morale of the players, as winning or losing is part of the game."
