Akmal criticized the team's lack of discipline, particularly in the bowling department
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has expressed his frustration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, urging him to step down if he cannot improve the state of the national men's cricket team.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akmal slammed the recent performance of the team, calling it "shameful" and urging the PCB chairman to either take action or resign to save his reputation.
Akmal criticized the team's lack of discipline, particularly in the bowling department, and called for a complete overhaul. He pointed out that Pakistan's bowlers failed to perform on pitches that should have suited them, raising concerns about their consistency.
On the batting front, Akmal highlighted the team's inability to strategize properly, especially when key players like Babar Azam got out early, exposing the batting lineup's vulnerabilities. He also remarked that Pakistan's bowling department needed fresh faces to bring about the required change.
The ongoing New Zealand tour has been a source of disappointment for Pakistan, as they have won just one out of seven matches. In the second ODI on April 2, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 84 runs, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. Pakistan's chase faltered early, with several top-order batsmen falling cheaply, and despite a valiant effort from Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah, the team was bowled out for 208.
Akmal's harsh criticism comes at a time when Pakistan's cricket team is facing increasing scrutiny for its performance on the international stage.
