Ex-captain praises young talent showcased during recent PSL season

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has said that any decision on resuming bilateral cricket between Pakistan and India depends entirely on the respective governments. However, he expressed hope that fans would once again get to witness the two arch-rivals face off on the field.
Speaking to the media in Karachi on Monday, the legendary fast bowler stated, “Everyone wants to see Pakistan and India play cricket again, but the final decision rests with the governments. I can’t comment much beyond that.”
Turning his attention to domestic cricket, Akram praised the young talent showcased during the recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. He highlighted the performances of promising players such as Hassan Nawaz, Ali Raza, and Salman Mirza, calling their emergence a positive sign for the future of Pakistan cricket.
“These youngsters impressed with their performances,” he noted. “Even if big names like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, or Shaheen Afridi miss a few games, it's not an issue. Our bench strength is improving.”
He also emphasized that senior players like Babar and Rizwan continue to play a crucial role and still have a lot to offer.
With the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup approaching in the coming months, Akram called for unity and support for the national team. “There’s still time before the big events. We should continue supporting the players and the management,” he said.
Akram also applauded the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its officials in successfully conducting the PSL. “Bringing the PSL back and organizing it so well was a huge achievement. PCB and all involved deserve full credit,” he added.
