Perera voices enthusiasm about being back with franchise

Kusal Perera rejoins Qalandars ahead of PSL X remaining matches

Kusal Perera returned to Lahore Qalandars for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League 2025, infusing renewed hope into the franchise ahead of a critical encounter against Peshawar Zalmi.

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera, known for his explosive style and seasoned T20 record, rejoined the Lahore Qalandars squad following his arrival in Lahore earlier this morning. The 34-year-old cricketer brought with him a wealth of experience, having scored more than 4,500 runs in the T20 format.

Perera's return coincided with the arrival of two other overseas recruits—Shakib Al Hasan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. These additions were made by the franchise to compensate for the absence of England’s Tom Curran and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, both of whom had sustained injuries earlier in the tournament.

Upon touching down in Lahore, Perera voiced his enthusiasm about being back with the team. “It feels great to be back with Lahore Qalandars,” he said. “I’ve always enjoyed playing in the PSL, and to return at such a crucial stage is an honour. I’ll give my all to contribute to the team’s success and bring joy to the fans. I’m now looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad at the hotel so we can move forward together.”

Lahore Qalandars' Team Director, Sameen Rana, expressed delight over Perera’s return. “We’re grateful to Kusal for making himself available at this important stage of the tournament,” Rana stated. “His experience and energy are a big boost to the squad, and we’re pleased to see him back in Qalandars colours.”

The Pakistan Super League’s tenth edition, PSL X, had previously faced a temporary halt due to heightened border tensions with India. However, the competition resumed on 17 May, with its grand finale scheduled to be held on 25 May at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
