Sahibzada Farhan was the standout performer, smashing 106 off 52 deliveries
Islamabad United put on a dominant all-round display to outclass Peshawar Zalmi by a massive 102 runs in their latest Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 encounter. It was United’s second win of the season, while Zalmi faced their second straight defeat.
After being put in to bat, Islamabad set the tone early and posted a formidable total of 243 for 5. Sahibzada Farhan was the standout performer, smashing an explosive 106 off 52 deliveries, guiding his side to a towering score with a blend of elegance and aggression.
Chasing a daunting target, Peshawar Zalmi crumbled under pressure and were bundled out for just 141 runs. Their batting lineup failed to click, with eight batters failing to reach double digits. Only Mohammad Haris showed some resistance with a valiant 87-run knock, but his solo effort couldn’t prevent the heavy loss.
On the bowling front, Imad Wasim led the charge for Islamabad with 3 wickets, while Shadab Khan and Ben Dwarshuis chipped in with 2 wickets each, tightening the screws on Zalmi’s fragile batting unit.
Following the crushing defeat, Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam admitted that the team failed to execute their plans effectively.
“We couldn’t implement our strategy. Chasing a big total naturally brings pressure, but we still have several matches ahead. We’ll work on our shortcomings and aim to bounce back,” Babar said, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to recover.
