Blaze erupts in cooling system on fifth floor of red zone building
A blaze erupted on Friday at a private hotel in Islamabad's Red Zone where Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams had been staying, prompting a swift emergency response.
Sources divulged that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) reported that the fire had originated in the cooling system on the fifth floor of the hotel building.
The CDA Director of Emergency, Zafar Iqbal, stated: "Six firefighting vehicles and 50 firefighters participated in the operation to extinguish the fire." Iqbal added: "The fire was extinguished within half an hour."
The Pakistan Super League Chief Executive Officer, Salman Naseer, asserted: "None of the players or franchises faced any difficulties. The fire was extinguished on time. It did not spread to the interior of the hotel.
Naseer added: "The fire brigade teams launched their operation to extinguish the fire promptly."
It remained pertinent that defending champions Islamabad United had been scheduled to face two-time champions Lahore Qalandars in the opening fixture of the tenth edition of the domestic marquee tournament.
