Hosts take 93-run first innings lead as Sajid Khan, Noman Ali combine for nine wickets in Multan test
Pakistan's spinners caused a remarkable collapse on Saturday, bowling out West Indies for 137 in their first innings to secure a commanding 93-run lead in the opening Test at Multan Cricket Stadium.
The visitors' response to Pakistan's 230 unraveled dramatically against the spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who claimed nine wickets between them. Noman Ali finished with exceptional figures of 5 wickets, while Sajid Khan captured 4 crucial dismissals.
The West Indies innings crumbled from the outset, with Sajid Khan striking twice in consecutive deliveries. He removed opener Mikyle Louis for one and Keacy Carty for a golden duck, reducing the visitors to 10-2. The spinner continued his assault by dismissing captain Kraigg Brathwaite (11) and Kavem Hodge (4), leaving West Indies reeling at 22-4.
Noman Ali then took center stage, systematically dismantling the middle order. His five-wicket haul included the scalps of Justin Greaves (4), Tevin Imlach (6), and Alick Athanaze (6), pushing West Indies deeper into trouble at 51-7.
A defiant last-wicket partnership of 46 runs between Jomel Warrican (31 not out) and Jayden Seales (22) provided brief resistance before Abrar Ahmed wrapped up the innings, claiming the final wicket.
Earlier, Pakistan's first innings of 230 was built around significant contributions from Saud Shakeel (84) and Mohammad Rizwan (71), who forged a crucial 141-run partnership. The West Indies bowling attack, led by Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican with three wickets each, had initially kept Pakistan in check.
The hosts' dominant bowling performance, particularly from their spin department, has positioned them strongly as the Test match progresses at Multan Cricket Stadium.
