Pakistan captain acknowledges absence of key opener ahead of Champions Trophy

Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan stated on Friday that injured opener Saim Ayub would be missed in the Champions Trophy.  

Addressing a press conference in Lahore before the tri-nation series scheduled to begin on February 8, Rizwan clarified that the playing XI would be selected according to the conditions.  

He emphasised that the squad already included part-time spinners, which had led to the omission of specialist spinners. "

There are part-time spinners in the squad. That is why, the specialist spinners were not considered," Rizwan said.  

The captain dismissed the need for any alterations to the squad. "It is not necessary to change the squad," Rizwan stated.
