Ali Younis labels Khushdil Shah’s Champions Trophy inclusion 'shocker'

Sports commentator Ali Younis expressed strong reservations about the possible inclusion of all-rounder Khushdil Shah in Pakistan’s squad for the Champions Trophy.  

During his appearance on Samaa Digital’s programme "Zor Ka Jor", brother of former bowling legend Waqar Younis said, “It will be a shocker to see Khushdil Shah making it to the national team based on a few performances in the Bangladesh Premier League or Champions Cup.”  

Younis voiced concerns about Shah’s batting position, stating, “I hope he will not play as an opener. We can still see him batting at number six or seven, depending on the team’s needs.”  

Drawing parallels with the previous captaincy trends, Younis said, “During his captaincy, Babar Azam brought Shadab Khan into the team due to his comfort with the leg-spinner.”

He suggested that the same reasoning might apply to current captain Mohammad Rizwan. “Perhaps Rizwan is comfortable with Khushdil Shah since both players represent the same domestic region,” Younis added.
