Gillespie dismisses Javed’s remarks, taking to Threads on Instagram to mock the former Pakistan pacer
Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has strongly criticized Pakistan’s interim head coach Aaqib Javed, calling him a “clown” for blaming the team’s struggles on instability in management.
Javed, speaking at a press conference following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy, highlighted the frequent changes in the team’s coaching staff and selection committee, arguing that such instability had affected performance.
“We have changed nearly 16 coaches and 26 selectors in the last two years or so,” Javed stated.
“If you put that formula on any team, they will face the same situation. Without consistency from top to bottom, no team can progress.”
However, Gillespie dismissed Javed’s remarks, taking to Threads on Instagram to mock the former Pakistan pacer.
“Aaqib Javed blaming ‘instability’ is hilarious when he himself maneuvered behind the backs of Gary Kirsten and me to take over the Pakistan team,” wrote the former Australia fast bowler.
Pakistan, who hosted this year’s Champions Trophy, failed to advance past the group stage after losses to India and New Zealand, with their final match against Bangladesh being washed out.
The PCB has yet to respond to Gillespie’s comments, but the incident has further highlighted the ongoing turmoil in Pakistan’s cricketing leadership.
