Fast bowler Haris Rauf has dismissed concerns over pressure ahead of Pakistan’s high-stakes encounter against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, saying the team remains “relaxed” and focused on the crucial fixture.
Speaking to journalists in Dubai, Rauf emphasised that Pakistan is determined to correct its mistakes from the previous match against New Zealand.
“Our focus is on the match against India. It is a very important game for us, and if we want to stay in the tournament, it is a do-or-die situation,” he said.
Pakistan suffered a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in their opening match of the tournament on February 19, falling short in their chase of 321 runs at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Stadium.
Despite centuries from Will Young and Tom Latham propelling New Zealand to 320-5 in 50 overs, Pakistan was bowled out for 260 in 47.2 overs.
Looking ahead to the much-anticipated clash against India, Rauf expressed confidence in the team’s preparations. “All the boys are positive. This match is very important for us, and everyone will try to give their best in all three departments,” he stated.
The pacer, who bowled a full quota of 10 overs in the match against New Zealand, assured that he is fully fit. “I am completely fit and ready for the upcoming match,” he said when asked about his fitness.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s past performances, Rauf highlighted the team’s success against India in Dubai. “We will try to play the same kind of cricket as we did when we defeated India in the last two matches here. The boys are confident, and it will be a good contest,” he remarked.
The much-anticipated Champions Trophy clash between Pakistan and India is set to take place on Sunday, February 23.
