Pakistan dominate after West Indies' collapse on day two
Pakistan captain Shan Masood showcased exceptional skill with the bat, scoring a crucial fifty on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
The Green Shirts gained control of the match after bundling out the visitors for a meagre 137 runs within 26 overs in their first innings.
The hosts closed the day at 109 for 3 after 31 overs and extended their lead to over 200 runs on a spin-friendly wicket. Masood’s innings provided stability and momentum for the side.
Hurraira looked composed during his 29-run knock before being dismissed by West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican, who displayed excellent control and precision.
The left-arm spinner later claimed the prized wicket of Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who managed only 5 runs off 11 balls.
Kamran Ghulam and Saud Shakeel remained unbeaten at the crease with scores of 9 off 40 and 2 off 8, respectively. They were set to resume Pakistan’s second innings on Sunday, aiming to build a formidable target against the visitors.
Warrican, speaking after the match, expressed satisfaction with his performance. “It felt great to contribute to the team with key wickets,” he stated. However, the bowler acknowledged the challenge posed by Pakistan’s growing lead.
The home side capitalised on the spinning conditions effectively, ensuring a commanding position by stumps.
